No

Failures are finger posts on the road to achievement.
– C.S. Lewis

Today I got one of the first major “No”s of my life.

I’ve been pursuing a career opportunity that fit perfectly with my goals – a short term contract paying much more than my current job, that fit my skillset and other needs and that would provide me with a nest egg to continue my career search for the rest of the year.

It fell through, due to legal issues involving some…indiscretions in my past.

I was disappointed, of course – that gig would’ve been amazing.

But in every other way, I’m thrilled.

I got told no. I pushed it until I found a limit I couldn’t get around, and I’m full of the kind of pride that only comes with honestly, viciously pursuing your goals until you get them or get knocked out.

Only three weeks into the year and I was already within shouting distance of a massive improvement in my career and finances. Things are only going to go up.

(Fitness – I’ll be honest, didn’t make it into the gym to lift this week, and I’m not proud of that. Next week I’m going to lift after classes at the new gym.)
