It is what you read when you don’t have to that determines what you will be when you can’t help it.
– Oscar Wilde
Without any ado, here are a bunch of the blogs that have influenced me, for better or worse. I’m relatively new to many of these but I read archives like the obsessive completist I am.
- Chateau Heartiste – painful opinions and ugly truths, beautifully and hatefully written. First on the list because I’ve never read anything quite like it. My outlook doesn’t trend as negative, but I try not to shy from darkness. It’s mostly about male/female relations and “Game”, mostly from the “alpha asshole” perspective, but it ranges wide.
- Krauser PUA – 90% the pursuit of women and sex, with a scattering of lifestyle design and general male development to spice things up. Krauser went on a “Hero’s Journey” similar to the one I’m embarking on.
- Gucci Little Piggy – sex and race issues from a relatable perspective.
- Raptitude – more lifestyle design, from a hugely different perspective as the last few. Very new age, very subjective-well-being, well written.
- The Last Psychiatrist – difficult to summarize. Exercises in looking into the abyss, and in trying to see the Matrix (and the futility of this exercise).
- Partial Objects – See above.
- The Badger Hut – More men’s perspective, calm and mature.
- Less Wrong – There’s a lot going on here, but the gist is – humans are terribly flawed thinking machines, and it makes us worse at solving our problems. How to think better. Emphasis on artifical intelligence, which is fine by me – there’s no better way to understand our own brains than by trying to figure out how to build one.
You see where I’m coming from – game, lifestyle design, thinking, and self-improvement. As I mentioned above I read blogs one at a time, the entire archive, and my to-read list is endless. Expect further mentions as I finish other reading.
